A Greater Cause

I can't count the times that a homeless person brings me to tears when my son and I give him or her food or money. More often than less, the sincerity of being thankful is evident in their eyes and their body language.

Gazing upon a homeless person, I think to myself, this could be me, a family member, or a dear friend. In hindsight, humanitarian acts are but one aspect of letting one’s life speak. Just as the charity and volunteer work that I am involved in—is one way of giving back to the community—my life and purpose on the planet, is not just about posting all of the glamorous things that I do on social media…to the contrary.

To be clear, there are times that the glitter and glamour of life speak to pausing for a more important cause. One’s audience during this time is his or her creator.

The omnipotence of it all perhaps sends ripples throughout the universe when knowing that one’s walk renders a much greater reward, from which all blessings flow. Displaying humanitarian acts of kindness and Agape love, oftentimes, brings about a sense of consciousness—in knowing that the homeless people and the poor among us—are reflective of how conditions that may have created homelessness vary among each person.

The homeless person may have been dealt a hand that created the circumstance or dismal way of life as a result of losing a job, divorce, poor business deals or decisions, drug dependence, mental illness, health issues, and several other ills that affect individuals across the globe.

However, humility has its place, therefore, in counting one’s blessings and displaying a sense of compassion, reality checks that speak to most people being one paycheck from homelessness should help to keep the most arrogant individual grounded. Moreover, the person choosing to remain behind the scenes void of minimizing the light of others is capable of creating a platform for positive change, when his or her work is revealed in places where some fail to journey…or pause for a greater cause.
